All text, portraits, marks, and graphic elements of The Council are protected. Unauthorised reproduction is prohibited.

Advisor names refer to public-domain authors. The Council is not affiliated with their estates, museums, or institutions.

Sign-in cookies (Clerk) are required to keep an account and open a sitting. They are not optional if you use the room.

Analytics cookies (PostHog in the EU, and Vercel Web Analytics) record page views and product use — not the text of a sitting. They stay off until you allow them. The choice is stored in your browser and is not asked again, unless you change it from Cookies in the footer.

Sessions are private and encrypted at rest, keyed to your account. Nobody reads them. Nothing you write or say is published, sold, or used to train a model. If you speak, the recording is turned into text and discarded; only the text is kept. The model provider (OpenAI) sees a turn only to produce the reply.

An account may be created through Clerk in order to keep your sessions. An email address given to The Council is used to reach you about your account or your session — including a letter from the Chair the morning after a verdict, which links back to the room and does not quote the sitting — and for nothing else.

You may allow a sitting to be copied into a separate improvement file for thirty days, so the room can be made better. That is off unless you switch it on, and you can stop it at any time.

Product analytics (pages visited, buttons used, advisor mix, turn counts, not the text of a session) are processed in the EU by PostHog. Session recordings are off. Transcripts are not sent there. Page views are also recorded by Vercel Web Analytics. Sitting IDs are stripped before they leave the browser; the text of a sitting is not sent. These analytics run only if you allow them.

Subscriptions are billed by Lemon Squeezy, the merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy receives the email and payment details needed to charge the plan. Card numbers never reach The Council. The text of a sitting is not sent there.

Under the GDPR, you may ask the publisher, EICA, for access to, correction of, or deletion of your data.
